Teacher’s Day is the birth anniversary of the late Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He is one of the most outstanding teachers and philosophers in our country. When his students are asked to insist on celebrating his birthday, he kindly requests that the day be celebrated as Teacher’s Day instead of his birthday. Since 1962, September fifth has been honored as Teacher’s Day in India.

Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan:

Born on September 5, 1888, Sir Radhakrishnan was a man of high honors and values. He pursued his education in philosophy. Some of his important books are- The Hindu View of Life, A Source Book in Indian Philosophy, The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore, The Pursuit of Life, Faith Renewed, etc. These books radiate pearls of wisdom and are a must-read. 

Moreover, Sir Radhakrishnan served the country as the first Vice President of India from 1952 to 1962 and the second President of India from 1962 to 1967. In addition, he also received India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1954. Sixteen times, he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature and 11 times for the Nobel Peace Prize. Dr. Radhakrishnan always believed that teachers are the best minds in the country. As President, he donated a large portion of his income to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

International Teacher’s Day Speech:

In India, Every year, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on the 5th of September. Similarly, International Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5th October every year across the world. The aim of the day is not only to appreciate the efforts of the teaching community but also to create awareness about The essential role of teachers in building the character of children and the scope of improvement in their circumstances. The theme of World Teachers’ Day 2020 is “Teachers: Leading the Crisis, Reshaping the Future”.
